Audi State College Hosted the 4th Annual 2013 Audi quattro Cup & Raised Over $9,000 for the YMCA of Centre County. Held on June 4, 2013 at Toftrees, Audi will now send the Winners to Kiawah Island, SC for the Audi U.S. Final with the potential to go to the World Final!
Not only was the tournament a great success by benefiting a local charity over 9K, but it was also great fun to see Audi cars positioned around the course with the newly unveiled Audi A8 TDI clean diesel model, A6, A5, A4, and the popular Q5. This golf tournament offered a unique two person alternating shot (Greensome Stableford) format making the play interesting, challenging, and new for those who usually play a traditional foursome format. Participants said it was exciting to be a part of the Audi quattro Cup which remains the largest amateur golf tournament in the world. Golfers raved about their experience, particularly those fortunate enough to have advanced to the U.S. Final last year in 2012 at the legendary Pebble Beach. In addition to the Golf trip to the US final and Audi golf prizes for winners 1-3, all players had fun with TWO hole-in-one chances to win a new Audi, and a fabulous after party event!

This year, our local winning team, Tom Knepp and Robert Brugler, will find even more competitive inspiration as they participate in the 2013 U.S. Finalagainst the breathtaking Atlantic backdrop that defines The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island. There, finalists will compete for two consecutive days on the links at Turtle Point and, of course, The Ocean — a course consistently ranked as the toughest in the nation and the site of the 2012 PGA Championship.
Audi State College is one of 90 dealerships expected to host local competitions nationwide — an unprecedented goal for the brand since the tournament was first played stateside in 1999. Each dealership will in turn advance its winning twosome to the U.S. Final (August 22–25, 2013) to decide which two amateur teams Audi of America will send to represent the United States in the World Final (October 7–11, 2013) at Trump National Golf Club, Los Angeles, CA.
Jeff Irwin, General Manager/Partner of Audi State College, stated, “The YMCA of Centre County is our charity of choice for the Audi quattro Cup Golf Tournament because we believe in giving back to the residents of this community and the surrounding areas.” The YMCA of Centre County makes accessible the support and opportunities that empower people and communities to learn, grow, and thrive. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y nurtures the potential of every youth and teen, improves the nation’s health and well-being, and provides opportunities to give back and support our neighbors. The funds raised also supports the YMCA’s Open Doors program which provides financial assistance for membership and program fees, ensuring that no one is turned away from the Y due to inability to pay.
Audi State College and the YMCA thank all of the golfers, tee sponsors and the Toftrees staff for making the 2013 Audi quattro Cup Tournament a success! We hope to see you at next year’s Audi quattro Cup on June 3, 2014, early bird registration for which is available now at www.ymcaofcentrecounty.org. “The Audi quattro Cup immerses golfers in the absolute best of the brand,” said Jeff Irwin, GM/Partner, “Audi State College is proud to bring this unique experience to our area and to be part of something that was created to fuel the passion inherent in amateur golf.”
