Boys Dodge Ball League

The program is open to all boys in grades 1– 6 and they will be divided grade accordingly (1–3 and 4-6). Team dodge ball will be played and then it will be broken down into a one on one tournament format for the championship. There must be a minimum of 12 participants registered for this program.

Children’s Fitness Challenge

Program will be run by Colette Sample, Health & Wellness Coordinator. The cost of the program is based on one day per week, you may register for more. Participants will need to wear sneakers, shorts or pants. There must be a minimum of 3 participants per class and a maximum of 6 participants.

Girls Tumbling Program

Program Instruction will be Tasha Hess, Gymnastics Instructor. Program will be concentrated on mat tumbling and not geared towards use of gymnastics equipment. There is a minimum of 8 participants for this program. Participants must wear shorts or pants and have sneakers.

I Made That Craft

Children will make different craft projects and will be able to take home or give their craft out as a present. Cost of the program includes materials needed for the class. This program is for children K thru 6 grade. Costs of the program includes material needed for the class. There is a minimum of 6 participants for this class and a maximum of 12. You can send an old t-shirt for the children to put on so they don’t get materials on their clothes.

GREAT Girls

The GREAT Girls (Girls Respecting Each other And Themselves) is a program for girls in elementary school designed to promote self-esteem and self-respect with a section of physical fitness. Each participant will have the opportunity to gain positive leadership skills that will help them lead a healthy life. This program will have many components such as healthy eating, body image, and how to stay active while having fun.

Think Fun Games

Games to promote interactive play, problem solving and special reasoning. Games will include physical activities as well as intellectual problem solving. Participants will need to wear sneakers, shorts or pants. This program is open to grades K-6. There must be a minimum of 5 participants registered for class.

Art and Drawing

Ages K–6 

An exciting opportunity for students to make a variety of art designs, collages, comics, fabric design, and explore the art world with colored pencils, markers, and paints.

Children’s Cooking and Baking

For grades K-6. Lean to measure ingredients and make a variety of simple dishes and desserts. Children will also explore the nutritional value of food and the effects of it on the body.

Kids Fitness Circuit Program (Ages 7-13)

Circuit training fitness tailored for kids to come and enjoy being active while still having fun.  This program is designed for 10 minute intervals of exercise with various pieces of cardiovascular equipment and other stations focusing on strength resistance training.  Each circuit is 60 minutes in duration with a warm up and cool down for proper exercise mechanics.  Each student will also receive healthy eating tips and strategies following each class that they can take home for family discussion. 

The equipment associated with this program includes treadmills, bikes and dance pads that are attached to televisions for “real life” exercise, as well as resistance training stations with free weights, resistance bands, medicine balls, jump ropes and much more!

This circuit program will be supervised by a fitness professional at all times for safety purposes.

Guitars in the Classroom
Would you like to learn how to play guitar, but don’t have one of your own? The YMCA is offering guitar lessons to youth of all ages. Each lesson is 30 minutes, available weekday evenings from 6:00–8:00 PM.

Bio: Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 23rd round of the 2001 MLB June Amateur Draft out of Philipsburg-Osceola High School. Played 7 seasons in the minor leagues from 2001-2007. Pitched for 6 teams during the 7 seasons.  In high school two time Central Penn League first team pitcher and outfielder. Won team pitching award as junior and senior. Offensive player of the year as a senior. Team MVP as a senior and captain of PIAA Final Four team 2001.
