Summer Youth Theatre (SYT) Program
The Moshannon Valley YMCA Summer Youth Theatre is committed to providing excellent, accessible theatrical training for youth, with professional-quality performances for the Central PA region. This program seeks to develop and encourage every child’s talent, confidence, and potential through singing, acting, dance, and other art forms. The program strives to encourage public appreciation of the performing arts and to develop future audiences and supporters of the Performing Arts.
The SYT program has been very successful and has created an avenue to bring students together from many area school districts and created a common goal of theatre. SYT does major production each summer. Past productions include: Peter Pan, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and A Broadway Review.
Drew Baker, SYT Coordinator/Artistic Director has been in charge of the program for over two years and brings experience and talent to his position. Volunteers are crucial to the success of the SYT program, filling positions in costuming, marketing, concession, fundraising, set design/construction and much more. SYT has a musical coordinator, pit band and pit band director for their productions.
