Child Care Staff
Our Penns Valley Branch is currently accepting applications for part-time Child Care Staff to fill shifts Monday-Friday from 6:30 AM - 8:00 AM at Centre Hall and Penns Valley Elementary schools. Staff will be responsible for the safety and well-being of the children enrolled in our programs as well as providing an environment rich in activities and experiences to promote the development of each child.
Primary Responsibilities
- Maintain knowledge and understanding of PA Department of Human Services (DHS) regulations.
- Supervise all children and be physically present with the group of children in your care.
- When engaging children in activities, consider the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, special talents, individual style, and pace of learning.
- Assist with the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Interact and participate in games, activities, and special programs with children in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Assist in daily communication with parents.
- Utilize positive disciplinary methods including, but not limited to, redirection, positive reinforcement, proactive guidance, and if needed, appropriate time outs.
- Assist with the completion of any necessary administrative paperwork (i.e. meal counts, attendance, incident reports, supply requests, etc.)
Qualifications (should meet ONE of these criteria)
- High school diploma and 30 credits in an education or human services field.
- High school diploma and 600 or more hours of secondary training.
- High school diploma, 15 credit hours in an education or human service field, and 1 year of experience working with children.
- High school diploma and 2 years of experience working with children.
Salary/Benefits
- $13.00 to $14.50 per hour depending on level of education and experience with opportunities for increases.
