Adult/Youth Classes

Please check the ALERTS page on our website for the most up-to-date information regarding program cancellations due to weather.

Morning Classes: If SCASD Delayed opening/closure due to weather: Classes that begin before 8:30 AM are CANCELLED. YMCA will decide by 8:00 AM additional morning classes will be cancelled for the day. Check the Alerts Page for updates.

Afternoon/Evening Classes: If SCASD is closed or dismissed early due to weather: Decision on YMCA classes/programs will be made and posted by 2:00 PM.

Information on cancellations of classes will be available on our website, social media, or by contacting the front desk of the YMCA at 814-237-7717.

Child Care Programs

All delayed openings, closings, and early closings will be determined by the Child Care Director. Contact the YMCA if you are unsure of the policy/schedule for an inclement weather day:  814-237-7717. Also check the YMCA app or Facebook page: State College After School Program or our Website Alerts for any updates

• SCASD CLOSED:
  • Child Care for children enrolled in the Afterschool Program will be provided from 8:00 AM-5:30 PM. Please call or email by 7:00 AM to inform the Director of your child’s attendance. Hours of care may vary due to severity of weather.
  • If the YMCA closes due to inclement weather, we will contact you by phone if you will need to pick up earlier than 5:30 PM.
  • NO AM OR PM CHILD WATCH 

• SCASD DELAYED OPENING:
  • No Before-School Child Care will be provided. Afterschool Program will run as normal.
  • No Morning Child Watch.

• SCASD EARLY DISMISSAL:
  • We will run a child care at the YMCA from when students are dismissed until 5:30 PM. Call the YMCA to inform us if your child will be coming to the YMCA. Please remember to inform your child’s school of your plans as well. It is very important that we know which children to expect so that a staff member can be there to meet the bus when it arrives. If weather should become unsafe for staff and children, you may be asked to pick up your child sooner than 5:30 PM.
  • NO PM CHILD WATCH

Swim Team

• If SCASD closes, the SCAY Aqualions’ inclement weather policy is that a decision will be made by 2:00 PM that day. A notice will be placed on their website, aqualions.org, an email will be sent out to the team, and the front desk staff will be notified of any changes. If the decision is made to hold practices, parents should use their best judgment concerning road conditions.

YMCA Facility Closing Policy Due to Inclement Weather

To check on whether a decision has been made to open the facility late, not open at all, or to close the facility early:

• Check the alerts page on our website: www.ymcaocc.org.
• Check the Y’s social media: Facebook, Instagram
• YMCA App Notifications:  Search “YMCA of Centre County” in the app store on your mobile device. To ensure you’re receiving notifications, click the circle in the left hand corner of the homepage. Click on Settings, then Notifications, and ensure they are toggled on. In addition, you may need to double check the notification settings on your phone itself to ensure you’re not blocking YMCA notifications. • Confirm that the YMCA has your correct email on file. We do send an email notification if the facility is closed or will be closing for inclement weather.

Note: There are NO makeup dates or credits issued for YMCA classes or programs that are cancelled due to inclement weather.
